Injury Law

Have you suffered an Injury?

Personal injury law comprises civil cases involving a private plaintiff seeking compensation for harm caused by a defendant’s actions or negligence. These cases can involve car accidents, faulty products, dog bites, and medical malpractice. A successful suit will result in the defendant paying the plaintiff damages. These damages can include compensation for medical bills, emotional distress, and loss of earning potential. In egregious cases, punitive damages are also available.

Whether you’re the plaintiff or defendant, Almagno Law knows that the results of a personal injury case can dramatically impact the quality of your life. We do everything we can to secure victory, including conducting an original investigation, thorough due diligence, and an aggressive litigation strategy. Frequently Asked Questions

A personal injury lawyer helps individuals who have sustained injuries in accidents to recover financial compensation. These funds are often needed to pay for medical treatment, make up for lost wages, pain and suffering, and provide compensation for injuries suffered.

Most contingency fee agreements give the lawyer a percentage of between 33 and 40 percent, but you can always try to negotiate a reduced percentage or alternative agreement. In the majority of cases, a personal injury lawyer will receive 33 percent (or one third) of any settlement or award.

If you are involved in a collision, stop your car at or near the collision scene. If you can, move your car off the road so you do not block traffic. Protect yourself and others from oncoming traffic.

The judge has not decided how you are going to pay the plaintiff back. The creditor may have asked for an “execution” at the end of your case. If they get an execution from the judge, they can “levy on the execution.” This means it is legal for them to take your property.
